saudade: a 7ª palavra mais difícil de traduzir .

Saudade é uma das palavras mais presentes na poesia portuguesa e também na música popular, "saudade", só conhecida em galego-português, descreve a mistura dos sentimentos de perda, distância e amor.

A palavra vem do latim "solitas, solitatis" (solidão), na forma arcaica de "soedade, soidade e suidade" e sob influência de "saúde" e "saudar".

Uma visão mais especifista aponta que o termo saudade advém de solitude e saudar, onde quem sofre é o que fica à esperar o retorno de quem partiu, e não o indivíduo que se foi, o qual nutriria nostalgia. A gênese do vocábulo está directamente ligada à tradição marítima lusitana.
